Cultural Talks and Tours
Our programs are suitable for a range of educational needs and ages. Kirrit Barreet programs are designed and delivered by trained Indigenous cultural guides.
Programs are tailored to suit all levels of primary, secondary and tertiary students, community groups, tourists and the corporate sector.
The programs listed are current and ongoing; however please check our website for the announcements of new programs and events.
No set number for bookings is required.
Entry to the centre is free
Daily Cultural Talks - (introduction) are held at 11a.m. and 3p.m. Allow approx 30 mintues for this talk. Includes historical background, artefact talk, and didgeridoo playing. Cost: $5
Boomerang Painting - includes instruction on boomerang painting and materials. You get to keep the boomerang.
Cost: Students $7 -Adults $10
Indigenous Garden talk - walk through our indigenous plant garden and learn about the uses of various plants. Cost: $5 dollars
Gallery Tour - learn about our current exhibition and our resident artist Billy Blackall.
Lal Lal Falls Cultural Talk and tour - join a guided tour of Lal Lal Falls, a culturaly significant sight just minutes from Ballarat. Our cultural guide will conduct a cultural talk at the centre and then take you the Lal Lal Falls and give an insight into the cultural heritage of the sight and the significance to local Aboriginal people. Bookings required 4 weeks in advance and own vehicle needed.
Cost: $10 per head.
Kirrit Barreet Dancers - Kirrit Barreet Dance Group has many years of experience in traditional dance and story telling. They have performed for local and corporate events across Victoria and at the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
Cost: $500 within Ballarat. Includes 1 didgeridoo player and 2 dancers (extra cost for extra dancers)
o $1000 outside Ballarat (includes 1 Didridoo player and 2 dancers)
